Galaxy Of Emptiness – Beth Orton

Ambient music. What’s that all about? Essentially it’s lift music for stoners right?

Well, maybe… but wait. Try sitting in a beach bar on a Greek Island at the end of a century with a long drink in your hand and watching the sun go down while the ten minutes of spacey groove bliss that is Galaxy of Emptiness booms from those enormous PA speakers.

Feel the sand on your feet and the sun burn on your shoulders as the smell of sea salt and the white rum work their magic. It’s the last night of your holiday and everyone else is doing some stupid club rep shit a mile up the beach.

You’re here though. Listening to booming bass wobble and jazz drumming. You’re a smart cookie and this ambient nonsense doesn’t sound so pointless right now does it?

Well that’s how it was for me anyway.
