Like A Hurricane – Neil Young

Because we’ve pushed these covers so far from the man himself we’d better get back on course. OK so if you just got done listening to The Masters At Work Dub Remix of Saint Etienne I don’t want to shock you to death with some Live Rust. My old buddy Wayne (remember him?) used to enthuse about how that record had one whole side of feedback. And we’re in a different place to that right now. So here’s Neil Being mid tempo and all floaty hippy like.

“Once I thought I saw you in a crowded hazy bar dancing on the light from star to star, far across the moonbeam I know that’s who you are, I saw your brown eyes turning once to fire”

So far so lovely right? There’s an all enveloping sweetness and comfort to the long long long notes he holds. This song contains the sort of guitar solo you could play at your mothers house on Sunday lunch and not upset the room.

“You are like a hurricane there’s calm in your eye and I’m getting blown away to somewhere safer where the feeling stays I want to love you but I’m getting blown away”

Then back into those long notes.

Hippies Man. They had a few things down just right.
