Sunshine On Leith – The Proclaimers

Now I’m not saying The Proclaimers is the best Scottish folk pop band in the world. Actually? Perhaps I am. Nor am I saying that their song is better than Hole. I’m not saying this beats out THS or Alien Ant Farm or The Wiggles or I Am Kloot, Puff Daddy, David Lee Roth or Kate Tempest or the ruddy Raveonettes.

I am saying it’s hard to rank music. I am saying we’re increasingly close to the end and it is an entirely incredible thing to stand at T In The Park and watch these two skinny Scots unite punks/moshers/indie kids/young mums and everyone else present with what is basically a hymn. And that will not go unrecognised.

We can’t have a list of this much greatness and not have Sunshine On Leith on it.
