Off With His Head – Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes

It’s not that I’m not saying rock is dead. I’m saying the opposite. I’m saying somebody will hear their favorite song ever for the first time today. I’m saying a track that came out a couple of weeks ago can fit in alongside stuff from the 60’s the 90’s and the records that were riding high when each of us were sweet 16 years of age.

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes know that. Special guest vocalist Cassyette knows it too. The best song in the world is the one you’re digging right now. And right now I’m digging Sticky the album. Off With His Head the single and everything else on this record released just a matter of days too late to make my best albums of the year list (admittedly I did move the goal posts by publishing it two months early). I’ve cut my nose off to spite The War On Drugs, Mastodon, Lana Del Ray, Lucifer, Self Esteem and the other big Frank on this website.

I’m still calling it a day in 24 short hours. I may have packed well over 60 tracks into October in an attempt to not miss any of the big any important songs. To chat enthuse and be daft about pop music in one last splurge.

But I never did post Electric Eye by Judas Priest or Be My Baby by The Ronettes. I missed out Carly Simon singing the best ever James Bond Theme and Slayer doing Raining Blood. There’s no Son Of A Preacher Man or Size Of A Cow. I missed Hurry Up Harry and Hungry Like The Wolf. There should have been Karma Coma, Instant Karma and Karma Chameleon. I ought to have posted more Hip Hop, Death Metal and Stevie Wonder for a start.

But it doesn’t matter. Tomorrow I will be saying my farewell. And posting the official SteveForTheDeaf Top Eleven Songs Of All Time (With an “interesting” caveat). I know what you’re thinking. Why Eleven? What Caveat? Who Cares? Where’s my phone charger? Whats for dinner tonight?

All important questions. However. Afore Ye Go. Have one last new release banger on me. The punk band from my home town (it looks like yours) who have gone from being a second chance at staying sane to Donington headliners in the time I’ve spent doing this blog. The best Punk Rock And Roll show in the U.K. in this day and age. Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes are a band for the ages. Enjoy the in sound that all the hip cats are digging the most.

Then… The crypt shall open. It’s Halloween. Madame Guillotine awaits and I say Off With My Head!

  1. So question – when Halloween dawns you’re done? Or will Halloween be the last day you post? Here in the States it’s about 10 pm Friday. Iffy I’m assuming you are in the UK so does that mean 7pm my time tomorrow night it’s all done?

    Excellent tune, too. WOO!!
